Left on the Jericho Road

A wounded traveler lies stripped and helpless on a rocky wilderness road, while a robed passerby continues along the path in the distance. The barren ravine and harsh ground evoke the dangerous road from Jerusalem to Jericho in Jesus’ Parable of the Good Samaritan. In Luke 10, the injured man is left half dead by robbers, and religious travelers pass him before a Samaritan stops to show mercy. The scene focuses on the moment of human need and moral testing: seeing suffering is not the same as becoming a neighbor.
