Preparing for the Journey

Israelite families prepare to leave Egypt under the sign of Passover blood marked on the doorway. A loaded donkey waits in the street while a child carries belongings and a woman stands at the entrance with provisions. Inside the house, a man gathers household goods for the sudden departure commanded after the final plague. The blood on the doorposts recalls the Lord’s instruction that the homes of Israel be marked so judgment would pass over them. The packed bags and waiting animal point to the haste of the Exodus, when God delivered His people from slavery and led them toward the promised land.
